Items that can be found by a player character in Phantasy Star Online 2 range from equipment such as weapons and units, to expendable items such as consumables.

Weapons[]

Main article: Weapon (Phantasy Star Online 2)

Weapons improve a character's offensive abilities. Striking weapons are usually used in melee, ranged weapons are usually used at a distance, and technique weapons are usually used to enhance technique usage. A character's main class determines which weapons can be equipped.

Units[]

Main article: Unit (Phantasy Star Online 2)

Units are defensive items. While equipped, they reduce incoming damage, and may have additional effects such as abilities and set bonuses. A character can equip one rear unit, one arm unit, and one leg unit at a time. A sub unit can be equipped in any of the three positions.

Costumes, parts and camo[]

Costumes for humans, newmans, and deumans, parts for CAST, and camo for weapons alter a character's appearance but do not affect gameplay.

Mags[]

A mag is a customizable piece of equipment that evolves in different ways when fed certain items. Mags increase a character's base stats when equipped, and may also perform basic attack actions in battle as well as trigger actions.

Event items[]

Event items take no space in a player character's inventory or storage. Possession of an event item usually unlocks some sort of game feature.
