The katana group カタナ系 is a category of striking weapons in Phantasy Star Online 2.

Katanas are one-handed weapons that can hit multiple targets, usually four, and have high bonuses to S-ATK when equipped. Most katanas can be equipped only by bravers, common and uncommon katanas drop as loot frequently for bravers, and a new character of the braver class receives a katana as a starter weapon.

Controls

Pressing the normal attack button performs an attack scaling with a character's S-ATK. This attack can hit multiple targets in front of the character. Each normal attack or photon art in a combo cycles through three normal attacks, with the third normal attack of the sequence striking twice.

Up to three katana photon arts can be set in a katana's weapon palette. Each normal attack or photon art in a combo cycles through the three, and pressing the photon art button performs the next photon art in the sequence. A character must have braver as a main class or subclass to use katana photon arts.

Holding the weapon action button performs a guard, pressing the weapon action button just before an enemy hits performs a just guard and just counter, and pressing the evade button performs a step while wielding a katana, regardless of class.
